Reviews/Forums

DPReview.com – an excellent port of call for reviews on the latest digital kit. No lens reviews though, but a good ‘news’ section that covers the latest releases and, well, news….

FredMiranda.com – Good forums for discussion, covering most topics. Product reviews are user based, so a more ‘real world’ appraisal of equipment. Nearly all the major lenses are reviewed here, along with the main camera bodies. A few printers, flashes etc are also listed. It’s worth noting that Fred Miranda also produces some excellent PhotoShop plug-ins.

Photographyreview.com – Good range of product reviews. Like Fred Miranda, they are all user based.

Ephotozine.co.uk – E-magazine with reviews and articles of most things photographic.

PhotoSig - Review site combining user reviews, links and members galleries.

Places to Purchase

Ffordes.com – the place to go in the UK for used stock! Always a decent amount of stuff listed, although slightly more expensive than other used sources, but the service and guarantee are worth it!

Warehouseexpress.com – The online retailer for new stock. Great selection and decent prices. Good selection of articles and reviews as well.

mxv.co.uk – A good selection of used equipment, usually good for accessories.

Mifsuds.co.uk – Good selection of new and used equipment.

Wilkinson Cameras – If you’re very posh and can afford Leica stuff, this is the best place to see it on the high street. Fair prices, and every now and then have some excellent deals.

Morco.uk.com – Best place for printer paper. Good range from all the main manufacturers. Not as cheap as 7 Day Shop, but quicker delivery and better selection.

7DayShop.com – A favourite of many, best place to buy consumables from. Used to be the cheapest for cameras etc, but many other online retailers catching up. Cheap delivery costs, but can take a while for things to arrive. Good to use if you’re not in a rush, and you don’t need to talk to anyone about your order!

Ebay.co.uk – The 'Russian Roulette' of equipment buying! Some undoubtedly great bargains to be had, but at your own risk! Some overseas sellers have great offers, but just beware, you may get stung with import duty.

Amazon.co.uk – wouldn’t go anywhere else for new books! Some software can be pretty reasonable too, as can some equipment.

Abebooks.co.uk – Used books galore! UK and US sellers list their stock on here, so you should be able to find near enough anything!

Camera Price Buster - Compares prices on a range of digital equipment and displays the best price. Also gives you the discount codes to use on some online retailers.
